It’s not the right time for direct therapy but you’d still like the confidence that you are supporting your child’s communication needs? About (1)_edited.png

Samantha Feliciani Taylor, MA, CCC-SLP

Owner & Speech-Language Pathologist

Samantha became a speech-language pathologist because she believes that to be heard and truly understood is the deepest and most necessary part of being human.  She is fascinated by the human brain’s capacity for language and the role that therapy can play in improving communication outcomes. She is passionate about helping children learn to share their own stories.

Samantha received her undergraduate degree in English from Florida State University. After working out-of-field for several years, she discovered the field of speech-language pathology and hasn't looked back! She received her Master's in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Central Florida.

Samantha has worked in skilled nursing, private practice, and school settings as an SLP. Her clinical areas of interest include language development, speech-sound disorders, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

01

Contact us by phone or email. You will speak directly with Samantha who will answer your questions, make recommendations for next steps based on your concerns, and walk you through the intake process. If an evaluation or therapy is recommended, we will schedule your initial session.

02

Attend your initial evaluation or screening session. Following evaluation, you will receive a diagnostic report with detailed information about your child's strengths and challenges related to speech and language. We will collaborate with you to develop a treatment plan that is fully tailored to meet your child's needs and make necessary referrals to other professionals.

03

Begin therapy! Therapy will be provided online, in your home, in your child's school, or in the community depending on your needs and location. Session length and frequency are based on individual needs. Data will be tracked regularly to monitor your child's progress and you will receive regular communication from your therapist about how to continue working toward speech and language goals at home.

FAQ
  • Where is your office located?
Our office comes to you! We do not work out of a physical office and instead serve our clients in their homes, in the community, or via teletherapy. Location of services is determined based on your needs, location, and therapist availability.
  • What ages do you work with?
We provide services for children ages 0-13. We provide services for older children on a case by case basis.
  • Are you in network with my insurance?
We are an exclusively private pay practice at this time. However, we are able to provide a Superbill upon request. A Superbill is a document that you can submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement for out-of-network services. We recommend contacting your insurance company to clarify what out-of-network coverage your policy provides.
  • My child already receives therapy in school, do they need more therapy?"
In the school setting, students are typically seen in groups and work on goals related to academics. Because therapy takes place in the classroom, parent involvement is sometimes limited. At Ascend, we provide one-on-one sessions, work closely with families throughout the assessment and treatment process, and have the freedom to address any goal that will be meaningful to your child and your family.
  • How long will my child need therapy?
The length of time your child remains in therapy is related to many factors. Your child's tolerance for structured/therapeutic tasks, how much you are able to practice with them at home, and the type/severity of your child's diagnosis will all impact their prognosis. We work with families to create treatment plans that are efficient for achieving your child's goals.
  • Is teletherapy appropriate for my child?
It may not be right for everyone, but virtual therapy is a fantastic option for many clients including: -Families who live in a rural area for whom providers may be scarce and their needed specialty may be unavailable -Children on the autism spectrum who have aversions to sensory input and are more regulated at home -Older children who are able to be more independent with their treatment program -Parents of late talkers who want to be coached in a natural environment with the toys and people their child interacts with every day We want our families to receive therapy in a way that makes sense for them. Sometimes that means fully in person, sometimes it means fully virtual, or a combination. We are always happy to discuss the best options for service delivery for your child.
